Large white daisies can make striking floral artworks, but are quite tricky to paint with watercolour.
Jason can show you some tried and tested methods to help you make stunning watercolours of these delightful flowers.
In this day-long workshop, Jason will;
Provide inspirational images
Demonstrate a number of short cuts to help you illustrate large white daisies in a garden setting, working from photographs
Discuss with you the image you intend to paint and help you plan the stages needed to make a stunning watercolour.
In addition, he will paint alongside you, showing how he would work on a similar painting, taking you through the stages of it’s prodiction.

What will you do in the workshop
10:00 Welcome – set up your kit and grab a free cup of tea or coffee
10:15 Planning the composition of your picture – how to make the most striking image from your photograph
10:30 Draw out the some of the key flowers you will need to mask or avoid painting.
11:00 Paint on masking fluid and add oil pastel and candle to add flickering colour
12:00 Lunch break
12:30 Demonstration of foliage painting – students explore ideas shown
13:00 Demonstration of negative painting – students explore ideas shown
13:30 Sharpening up the darks
14:00 Tea or coffee break while first layer of paint dries
14:15 Lifting off the masking fluid and painting the white flowers
15:00 Adding details and small touches of gouache
15:45 Finish off artwork and discuss the work as a group with a cuppa
16:00 End of workshop

What will you need to bring ?
Your watercolour painting kit, including:
Oil pastels or crayons if you have them – Jason will have a set of oil pastels so please do not make buy
Gouache if you have a set – Jason will have a set of oil pastels so please do not make buy
Any images of large daisies you would like to work from.
Jason has some photographs you can work from, but you may wish to work from your own reference.

Is there public transport to Wylam?
Yes – There is a railway station in Wylam situated next to the River Tyne on the opposite bank to Wylam main village. The walk from the station is about a quarter of a mile.
Is there parking near to the institute ?
Free parking can be found directly outside the institute and in nearby streets.
