Workshop/ Day course
Date – 4th of November
Time – 10am – 4pm
Location – Wylam Institute, Wylam, Northumberland
Level – suited to those with some experience of watercolour painting . Not suitable for total beginners.
Workshop Cost – £35
In June this year, I stopped and photographed a field full of poppies. I thought the field was breathtakingly beautiful. The orange-red of the flowers was joyous to be near. My brother and I stood looking at the field before we began taking photographs grinning like Cheshire cats. It’s one of those sights in nature that it would, I think, be difficult to grow tired of. No wonder then that it’s a popular subject for painters, perhaps keen to capture a little of the feel-good magic the flowers engender.
In this workshop I will be demonstrating a number of approaches. both traditional and modern, that can be used to paint poppies in the landscape, seen as a panorama or more closely examined as in the photographs below.
Whatever you preference, your aim will be to create a painting worthy of framing and hanging on your wall.
During this day-long workshop Jason will:
Provide inspirational images
Help you compose your painting
Discuss with you how to plan the painting and advise you at each stage in production of the artwork.
In addition I will provide demonstrations of painting methods that could be employed as well as working alongside you showing how I would paint a completed watercolour of poppies.
